The Summit concluded with a public participation activity. For this activity, large poster boards were set up along one side of the room. Each board represented a different preservation topic and various related issues. Summit participants were given 3 blue stickers and were asked to place them next to the issues they felt were most important. The activity was designed to give the City a better understanding of what residents thought our priorities should be.
Links to all the results (by topic) are located below. The top six priorities as voted by summit participants were:
1. Marketing St. Petersburg as a historic designation.
2. Adoption of an adaptive reuse ordinance.
3. Local grants.
4. Increased City funding for historic preservation.
5. Adoption of a demolition ordinance.
6. Rewrite rules for vacating streets, sidewalks, and alleys to reduce
chances of widespread
demolition of landmarks. |
