The Wellington Lake House was constructed in 1927 for Wellington and Lotta Lake by G.W. Deal for a cost of $15,000. The house was eventually sold to W. Roy Rogers and his wife Grace in 1939. The Rogers lived in the house until the late 1940s. The Wellington Lake House is an excellent example of the Mediterranean Revival style of architecture. This style of architecture characterizes the Florida Land Boom era of development in St. Petersburg as well as other resort communities throughout the state. Noteworthy features of the Mediterranean Revival style that remain on the residence include the tile roofs, roof parapets, spiral-fluted pilasters with Classical capitals, a cartouche and a decorative entry. |
