Artist Statement:
After spending several months exploring and photographing South St. Pete, a community I have lived in for the past 9 years.  I found there was a story to be told with each corner that I turned, I found neighborhoods full of history and heritage.  This is the inspiration I used to create the artwork for “South of Central”.

This exhibit shows a community of depth and range.  The focus is the foundation of this African-American community, such as the family and the church, and of course the people of the community who provide a positive image for the future.
