The Pinellas Pioneer Settlement is a non-profit, volunteer organization which accepts as its mission to authentically recreate the life styles of Pinellas County pioneers through the relocation or recreation of period buildings and education about the skills, crafts, and social customs of early settlers. Located adjacent to Boyd Hill Nature Preserve, the Settlement is a living history museum experience where visitors can observe and take part in the skills, crafts and social customs of late 19th century life in west central Florida.
Highlights include the Brantley Building (1888), Endicott House (1898), a blacksmith, saw mill, sugar cane shed and pole barn. These buildings have been the backdrop of Civil War enactments, music festivals, antique engine shows and other period events.
In addition, Pioneer Day Camps are offered several times a year and through the summer for children in grades two through eight. Campers experience a time when family, friendship and integrity were as important as food, water and shelter. Mr. Lynn leads campers through activities adapted from the Association of Experiential Education to foster team building, leadership and self esteem. For more information call (727) 893-7326.
Membership and contributions to the Pinellas Pioneer Settlement are tax-deductible. Membership is $15 for an individual or $20 for a family. Corporate membership is $150. Any level of membership entitles a reduced rate for day camp registration. Click here for a membership form or call (727) 893-7326.
