CAPI encourages comments and suggestions from the public about issues that prevent or inhibit full use and enjoyment of any facility, service or program under the City's jurisdiction. Regular meetings are conducted on the second Wednesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend. Time for public comment is provided at each meeting. You may call the Community Affairs Department at 893-7345 for information about meetings and accessibility issues.

Emergency Preparation
We never know when a disaster will strike. It is best to be prepared for it when it comes. Below are some resources
- The evacuation assistance program is offered to help local residents with special needs. You MUST register before services are needed. Visit this link to get an application and learn more about the program: http://www.stpete.org/hurricane
- Pinellas County Emergency Management: Surviving the Storm, It's everyone's responsibility. http://www.pinellascounty.org/emergency
- The Florida Developmental Disabilities Council offers information about preparing for an emergency for those with developmental disabilities. Click here for this information: http://www.fddc.org/news/prepare-now
- The Florida Disability Disaster Plan web page - This resource, developed by Volunteer Florida and hosted by the Florida Division of Emergency Management, is one of several tools available to help persons with disabilities and their families develop a "Florida specific" Disaster Plan. Find county information on sheltering, plan creation, and videos.
- Ready.gov - Launched in February 2003, Ready is a national public service advertising campaign designed to educate and empower Americans to prepare for and respond to emergencies including natural disasters and potential terrorist attacks. Visit the People with Disabilities and Other Special Needs page where you can find some tips and tricks to help you prepare. Ready.gov advises those with disabilities to:
- Get a Kit of emergency supplies,
- Make a Plan for what you will do in an emergency, and

- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) offers much information on disaster preparedness for special populations. Preparing for Disaster for People with Disabilities and other Special Needs (FEMA 476), provides disaster preparedness information specific to people with disabilities and other special needs, including the elderly. Also available in Spanish.
- Information on Emergency Preparedness from Disability.gov - Provides links to resources, plans, federal laws, and more.
- In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and in preparation for other disaster situations, the Food and Drug Administration is offering tips to help people who use medical devices.
- The Red Cross recommends some safety steps and tips to prepare for a hurricane.
- Nobody Left Behind, Disaster Preparedness for Persons with Mobility Impairments. This site offers many resources, tools and advice on how to prepare for an emergency.
