Letter from the City Auditor

The Office of the City Auditor conducts independent and objective audits within our City government.  With these analyses, the City Auditor provides recommendations to promote accountability to the public, improve the efficiency of our City government, and reduce risk of fraud, waste and abuse.
Auditor efforts are based on an annual risk assessment and are focused on:
  • Operational Audits
  • Performance Audits
  • Revenue Audits
  • Compliance Audits
  • Fraud Investigations
  • Special Reviews

City Management is encouraged to consult the Office of the City Auditor's office on issues related to internal controls, efficiency and effectiveness of city operations.
Employees and city vendors can anonymously report fraud or misuse directly through the toll-free Fraud Hotline 1-888-236-7053, managed by an independent, outside reporting company, EthicsPoint, Inc. This hotline should be used only to file reports on the following types of violations:
  • Accounting auditing or internal financial control issues
  • Embezzlement
  • Falsification of reports/records
  • Theft
  • Misuse of assets or services
For more information, download the Employee Fraud Policy and Code of Ethics.
The Office of the City Auditor is the city's liaison for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The Disaster Cost Reimbursement Manual may be downloaded from this page.

Per the Office of the City Auditor Charter, the City Auditor reports directly to the Mayor, and is assisted by one administrative assistant and four full-time professional auditors.
