
Codes Compliance Assistance provides services to the neighborhoods to reduce blight and improve livability.
The department, along with other City departments, such as Leisure Services, Sanitation, Police, Housing, and Neighborhood Partnership, is part of a larger mission to improve the quality of life for our residents.
The department is also responsible for enforcing minimum property maintenance issues such as inoperative motor vehicles, overgrowth, zoning violations and unsafe conditions.
Our work to improve the quality of life in
- Encouraging voluntary compliance with minimum property maintenance codes.
- Addressing unsafe structures through condemnation or securing.
- Working with Sanitation to identify and remove junk and rubbish and cut overgrown vegetation.
- Providing inspections for tenants to insure minimum standards for rental units.
- Administering the Certificate of Inspection and Rental Housing Unit Inspection programs.
- Working with Neighborhood Associations to address neighborhood identified priorities.
