The St. Petersburg Police Department is pleased to
offer online accident report retrieval. Per Florida State Statute
316.066 (5) (a), crash reports are exempt from public disclosure for a period of
60 days following the event. During
this period, crash reports
are only available to persons or entities defined within
316.066 (5) (b), to include parties of the crash, the parties’ legal representatives,
the parties' insurance agents, the State Attorney's Office, radio and television
stations, newspapers or any state or federal agency authorized to have access.
If
you do not meet these criteria, you are not entitled to the crash report until 60
days after the crash. In submitting
this request, you certify and affirm that you are legally entitled to access the
crash report within 60 days of the event; and that the crash report will not be
used for any commercial solicitation of accident victims or knowingly disclosed
to any third party for the purpose of such solicitation, during the period of time
in which the information remains confidential and exempt.
To retrieve a report, you will be required to enter
the report number supplied by the officer
at the scene, the date the crash occurred,
and the last name of a driver involved in the crash. If the proper information has been provided and the crash
report as been approved for distribution, you will be presented with a .pdf document.
To save this document, click the Diskette icon in the upper left of the web page.
The system may prompt that only a copy can be saved. If so, click the “OK”
button. The system will then provide the ability to save a copy of the crash
report to your local computer, with the name and location of your choosing. The
file size and download times vary on the number of pages in the crash report. The
average document size is 100K, and once the download is completed control will be
returned to the web page.
This
site only hosts reports investigated by the St. Petersburg Police Department
after February 1, 2009. Some reports may take several days or weeks before they are approved and entered
into our database.
Please wait for at least two weeks
