On November 8, 2011, the citizens of St. Petersburg approved an amendment to the City Charter that requires the St. Petersburg City Council to “develop and approve an inclusive Downtown Waterfront Master Plan by July 1, 2015.” The Charter amendment also requires City Council to adopt an ordinance that establishes “criteria for the development of an inclusive Downtown Waterfront Master Plan by July 1, 2012.
Prior to the adoption of the new Charter requirement, City Council had already set forth the goal to prepare an overall plan and policies for the City’s downtown waterfront area. The attached draft document, which is a precursor to the new Plan that will be developed under the recent Charter amendment, sets forth a vision, guiding principles and context for the preparation of a new Downtown Waterfront Master Plan now required by the City Charter.
Public input on the document is strongly encouraged. Your input on this document will be used by the City Council to develop criteria for the preparation of a new inclusive Downtown Waterfront Master Plan.
Thank you for your input.
