November 6 | City unveils the Storefront Conservation Corridor Plan
The Storefront Conservation Corridor plan promotes independently owned businesses, maintaining pedestrian-friendly streetscapes and conserving historic assets along Beach Drive and Central Avenue, from the waterfront to 31st Street. It sets standards for storefront sizes and includes financial and other incentives to retain independent businesses, which are some of the city’s best assets.
October 24 | Skyway Marina District Development Update
Celebrating its five year anniversary, the Skyway Marina District is filling vacant properties and welcoming new development. Efforts to invigorate the area date back to 2010, when City Council member Steve Kornell, neighborhood leaders and business owners began discussing a revitalization plan. The area now known as the Skyway Marina District stretches from 30th Avenue S to 54th Avenue S, and includes businesses west, such as Maximo Marina. In the coming months, the District will see development of two large apartment communities, several restaurants and doctor's office.
