In January 2010, when Mayor Bill Foster took office, he brought new ideas on how to support and serve the local business community.
Mayor Foster initiated a series of Job Cluster Summits to be held throughout 2010. Each Summit is designed to strengthen and grow the city's pre-existing, six business clusters, with the ultimate goal to create more jobs within the community.
The city's six business clusters include: Marine Science; Arts, Culture and Tourism; Medical Technologies and Healthcare Services; Manufacturing; Information Technologies; and Financial and Insurance Services. These six are not intended to represent all businesses contributing to the dynamic business climate, however these clusters represent industry sectors of geographical concentration and inner connectivity.
Below are the outlines, reference materials, and result updates from each of the Job Creation Summits being hosted throughout 2010.
