MAY BUDGET SUMMIT OFFERS SECOND OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC INPUT Fri, 11 May 2012 14:57:33 -0400
St. Petersburg residents are once again invited to offer input as city leaders consider ways to close the gap on a projected $13 million Fiscal Year 2013 budget shortfall. The second of three budget summits where the public may comment will be held Wednesday, May 16, at Roberts Recreation Center, 1246 50th Ave. N., at 6 p.m.
Last month, more than 100 citizens offered suggestions on how city leaders can reduce the shortfall without making significant decreases to city services. City leaders are evaluating unspecified reductions, increases in the millage rate, implementing a fire readiness fee, or an assessment on street lights, individually or in combination, as ways to reduce the deficit. The final public budget summit will be held June 13 at the Manhattan Casino, 642 22nd St. S., at 6 p.m. -
