St. Petersburg Fire & Rescue offers inspections of infant and child car seats for proper installation and usage. Our specially-trained personnel can provide you with recall information, education, and literature to help you better protect your child(ren) while they ride in your vehicle.
Once a month at our Fossil Park Fire Station, located at 6995 Dr. M.L. King Street North, our car seat technicians converge for a 3-hour car safety seat check from 9a.m.-noon. The check is held on the second Saturday of each month, rain or shine.
Each car seat can take between 20 minutes to an hour to check, so please be prepared with the following to help expedite your car seat check: have your child(ren) with you, the car seat(s) assembled and already installed, and drive the vehicle you plan to keep the car seat in, if possible. It is further helpful to us and to you if you are the child's custodial parent or guardian. This program is free and is Pinellas county-wide for those that live outside of St. Petersburg.
