William Jolley was hired by the city of St. Petersburg in 1975. He served as a firefighter and rose through the ranks of Lieutenant and Captain before his promotion to District Chief in 1993. He served as a DC for three years before becoming the Rescue Division Chief. In 1999, he was promoted to Assistant Fire Chief and became the Operations Division Chief. Today he serves as the Fire Marshal and oversees the Prevention Division.
Chief Jolley has a bachelor’s degree of science from Kennedy-Western University, and two associate’s degrees in fire prevention and fire suppression from St. Petersburg College. He is a member of the Florida Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association (FFMIA) and the Pinellas County Fire Marshals Association.
As manager of the Prevention Division, Chief Jolley oversees the programs and projects of 9 fire inspectors, 3 plans examiners, 2 lieutenants, a public education specialist, and an office systems specialist.
