 Top 10 Violations with examples


  1. Fire Extinguisher not certified.
  2. Extinguishers and Sprinkler Systems need to be certified once per year.
  3. The use of extension cords.
  4. Extension cords should not be used in place of permanent wiring.
  5. Exit signs not working.
  6. Signs need a specific minimum level of light to ensure legibility in both normal and emergency modes.
  7. Emergency lights not working.
  8. An egrees (unobstructed walkway used to exit) illuminated by a self-contained power source such as a battery.
  9. Electrical panel missing blanks.
  10. Guardrails not at proper height.
  11. They should not be less than 42 inches, some exceptions apply.
  12. Grills on Balconies.
  13. Sprinkler Heads missing heat shield.
  14. Holes in ceilings and walls.
  15. Fire Alarm system not certified.
  16. Alarms need to be certified once per year.
