Division Chief William D. Ward has been a member of St. Petersburg Fire & Rescue for more than 26 years. He is a Florida State certified firefighter, Paramedic, and Fire Officer I. His education includes an associate's degree in Emergency Medical Technology from St. Petersburg Junior College and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Professional Administration from Barry University .
During his tenure with SPFR, Chief Ward served as the Rescue Division Captain from 2002 until his recent promotion to chief. Prior to that, he was a Rescue Lieutenant, Fire Lieutenant, and Firefighter/Paramedic after being hired as a Firefighter/EMT.
Chief Ward is a member of the Pinellas County EMS Advisory Council, the Pinellas County Advanced Life Support Providers, and the Local Emergency Planning Council. He participates in the Mayor's Mentor & More as a tutor, the Great American Teach-In annually, the Disston Heights Community Association, and was involved in the St. Petersburg Police Department's Taser Policy Development.
