The Summit concluded with a public participation activity. For this activity, large poster boards were set up along one side of the room. Each board represented a different preservation topic and various related issues. Summit participants were given 3 blue stickers and were asked to place them next to the issues they felt were most important. The activity was designed to give the City a better understanding of what residents thought our priorities should be.
Links to all the results (by topic) are located on the menu to the left. The top six priorities as voted by summit participants were:
- Marketing St. Petersburg as a historic designation.
- Adoption of an adaptive reuse ordinance.
- Local grants.
- Increased City funding for historic preservation.
- Adoption of a demolition ordinance.
- Rewrite rules for vacating streets, sidewalks, and alleys to reduce chances of widespread demolition of landmarks.
