Historic Landmarks

Following the preparation of a city-wide historic survey in 1977, the City of St. Petersburg intensively surveyed 15 areas of concentration that had some potential for historic district designation.  Four of these surveys have been conducted since 1998 including those for the Jungle Prada, Greater Woodlawn, Snell Isle, and 22nd Street South Corridor neighborhoods.  These survey efforts have resulted in the completion of over 6500 Florida Master Site File (FMSF) forms.  Although the above noted city-wide and neighborhood surveys compose the bulk of survey efforts within St. Petersburg, over 65 surveys, including those noted above, have been conducted.  Survey efforts have resulted in the completion of over 7300 Florida Master Site File forms for properties within the city. These surveys have also facilitated the landmark nominations at both the local and national levels.

The Urban Design, Planning, and Historic Preservation division at the City of St. Petersburg keeps copies of all surveys and FMSF forms of properties within the city limits.
