Application: 18th Avenue Northeast Local Historic DistrictThe City has received a pre-application to designate the 700 block of 18tH Ave. NE as a local historic district. The formal application cannot be processed until a demonstration of support from property owners representing more than 50% of the subject tax parcels is certified. Official ballots were mailed to the owners on January 6. As soon as the demonstration of support is certified (no later than March 7), the application may proceed to a quasi-judicial hearing and review following public notice. Updates will be posted here. Design Guidelines for Historic Properties
The St. Petersburg Design Guidelines for Historic Properties were first published in 1994. The Guidelines are not a regulatory document rather they are designed to assist property owners and City staff in making determinations regarding Certificates of Appropriateness for Local Landmark properties and properties located within Local Historic Districts. The Guidelines are also meant to serve as an information and reference manual for owners of historic properties, regardless of designation status. For this project, the City of St. Petersburg is partnering with a local architectural firm to solicit public input and complete an update to the Guidelines.
