SETTING UP YOUR HOME RECYCLING CENTER

RECYCLING IS EASY. Collecting recyclables for a two week period should only require a small 3-foot x 3-foot space - under the sink or in the corner of the garage.

We suggest the following tips:

  1. Use a cardboard box for aluminum cans, another for glass, and one for plastic bottles. Plastic or paper bags will work, too.

  2. Stack newspapers in a corner. Tie with twine or leave them loose. When the bundle gets a foot high you’ve already collected 30 pounds!

  3. Don’t worry about separating your glass bottles by color at home. Wait until you get to the recycling center - it’s faster that way.

  4. To avoid those pesky bugs, rinse your bottle and cans before storing. You can leave the lids on at home, but please remove them before dropping into the recycling bin.

  5. You should only need to go to the recycling center once a month. Maybe you or your neighbors can work out a system where everyone takes a turn.

  6. Breakdown corrugated cardboard boxes and bundle them up for easy storage.

VISIT THE RECYCLE/BRUSH SITES!
Give Your Recyclables A Second Chance!

Once you’ve gathered your recyclables, you can take them to one of our five official Recycle/Brush Sites located throughout the city. Just deposit your materials into clearly labeled bins.

In addition, 10 other convenient recycling centers (collecting some, but not all recyclables) have been opened to the public to make recycling even more convenient. We’ll be letting you know as we continue to open more centers near your home.
