HOME REPAIR LOANS are available to qualified applicants who own and occupy a single family residence located within the municipal boundaries of the City of St. Petersburg.Loan applicants must meet minimum credit underwriting guidelines and total gross household income is limited to the Median Family Income (MFI) income limits as defined by the U.S. Department Housing and Urban Development and established specifically to the geographic area of St. Petersburg.

Housing rehabilitation loans provide the home owner with the financial assistance necessary to remove health and/or life-safety risks, to correct code violations and for limited general renovations to an owner-occupied residence. Assistance is also available to identify and mitigate lead-based-paint hazards and to "hurricane-harden" the structure, protecting the property against the perils of storm and reducing property hazard insurance premiums and utility costs.
Upon completion of construction, the property must meet Housing and Community Development Department Minimum Quality Housing Standards and the City of St. Petersburg's Property Maintenance Minimum Standards.
EMERGENCY REPAIR LOANS provide income eligible home owners with financial assistance to address a leaking roof, electrical hazards, plumbing and sanitary sewer issues and other threatening perils that are an immediate detriment to household occupants.
BARRIER FREE LOANS and GRANTS allow qualified income eligible disabled home owners and renters the financial opportunity to construct ramps, grab bars, chair lifts, accessible counters, widened doorways, notification lights, buzzers and other supporting fixtures that render a home accessible for persons with disabilities. The maximum grant available is $3,000. Assistance exceeding $3,000 to a maximum of $14,000 is a loan.

Family Budgeting, Financial Fitness and Home Maintenance classes are available as a benefit and condition of receiving a loan with the city of St. Petersburg. NOTE: Homeowner Education is NOT required for Emergency Repair Loans or for Barrier Free Loans and Grants.
