If you or someone you know requires assistance in an evacuation, now is the time to pre-register with the city's Fire and Rescue Department. Through the evacuation assistance program, citizens who cannot transport themselves to a shelter will be taken to a general evacuation shelter, a special needs shelter (John Hopkins Middle School, 701 16th St. S.) or the appropriate facility, such as a hospital or nursing home.

Evacuation Assistance
If you live in an evacuation zone, make plans now to evacuate when ordered to do so. If you do not have your own transportation, perhaps a relative, a friend, or a neighbor can assist you -- don't hesitate to ask for their help. Make arrangements with them well in advance of the hurricane season.
For St. Petersburg residents who cannot make other arrangements, evacuation assistance is available through the St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue Department, 551-3822 or 893-7683. If you need evacuation assistance, please register now. Don't wait until a storm approaches, it may be too late to help you at that point.
