40th Avenue Bridge Public Hearing September 10

St. Petersburg, FL (Sept. 5, 2019) – The City of St. Petersburg will be holding a public hearing to discuss the 40th Avenue NE bridge project.

Tuesday, September 10, 2019
Open house at 6 p.m., formal presentation at 7 p.m.
North East Park Baptist Church
3737 1st Street NE, St. Petersburg, FL 33704

Community members will have the opportunity to review project displays and speak one-on-one with project team members about the proposed project improvements. The public will be able to express their views concerning the location, conceptual design and social, economic and environmental effects of the proposed improvements.

This hearing is being held as part of a current Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study that is being conducted to address structural deficiencies of the existing 40th Avenue NE Bridge over Placido Bayou. The current bridge structure was constructed in 1961 and widened in 1990. It is considered structurally deficient by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and therefore is scheduled for replacement. This project will replace the existing 40th Avenue NE Bridge. The project limits extend from 12th St. NE to west of 13th Way NE, a distance of 0.15 miles. The new bridge will accommodate two lanes of traffic, bicycle lanes and sidewalks.

Draft study documents and other information depicting the proposed improvements are available for public review at and at the following locations through September 20, 2019. Comments postmarked on or before September 20, 2019 will become a part of the public hearing record.
