CENTRAL AVENUE CLOSED SATURDAY MORNING FOR SHRINE GAME CHARITY WALK

ST. PETERSBURG, FL (January 16, 2015) – St. Petersburg goes all-American tomorrow, January 17, with a Shriners charity walk and fan tailgate at Tropicana Field to kick off the 90th East-West Shrine Game. On the waterfront, blues fans settle in for an afternoon of live entertainment in Vinoy Park.  Central Avenue will be closed from 8 a.m. to noon to accommodate the walk event.

Football fans and fitness enthusiasts can get fired up for the longest-running college all-star football game and benefit Shriners Hospitals at the same time during the Shriners Walk for Love event at 11 a.m. The 1.5 mile walk from South Straub Park to Tropicana Field travels west on Central Avenue to 13th Street, crossing at First Avenue South before entering the Trop parking lot, where fans can tailgate before the 4 p.m. kickoff.  Central Avenue between Beach and Bayshore Drives will also be closed from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Both the walk and the football game benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children. www.walkforlove.orgwww.shrinegame.com

Owners of vehicles displaying Residential Parking Permits assigned to this area are encouraged to find alternate parking locations to avoid citations or possible vehicle relocation. Residential Parking Permits do not exempt holders from citations or possible vehicle relocation during special events.

Meanwhile, road closures and parking restrictions will be in effect around Vinoy Park from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. tomorrow, including Bayshore Drive NE when the Sunshine Music and Blues Festival stops in St. Petersburg.
