City Facility Closings December 25 and January 1; Trash & Recycling Pickup Changes

St. Petersburg, Fla. (December 18, 2015) – St. Petersburg city government offices will be closed on December 25 and January 1. During both holiday weeks, regular trash and recycling pickup for St. Petersburg residential customers normally made on Friday will be collected one day earlier, on Thursday, while Thursday collections will be made on Wednesday.

City facility holiday schedules on these four dates are as follows:

Early Closings:  The Mahaffey Theater will close at 1 p.m. on Dec. 24. Sunken Gardens will close at 3 p.m. on Dec. 24. North Shore Aquatic Complex will close at 1 p.m. on Dec. 24 and 31. Libraries will close at 4 p.m. on Dec. 24 and 31. The Municipal Marina Ship’s Store will close at Noon on Dec. 24.

Golf Courses.  The city's three public golf courses (Mangrove Bay, Cypress Links, and Twin Brooks) will be closed on Christmas Day, December 25. All three courses will be open regular hours on Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

Libraries.  The West Community Library at St. Petersburg College will be closed December 24 through 27 and December 31 through January 2, but will be open to patrons from December 28 through 30. On December 31, the Mirror Lake Library will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., reopening for First Night St. Petersburg 2016 festivities only from 4 until 8 p.m. For more information, visit www.splibraries.org.

Residential Sanitation.  During the holiday weeks of December 21 to 25 and December 28 to January 1, there is NO trash or recycling collection on Friday for St. Petersburg residential customers. Friday collections will be made on Thursday, December 24, and Thursday collections will be made on Wednesday, December 23. Monday and Tuesday collection days remain the same. Brush sites will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

*Note:  The Coliseum doors open at 7:30 p.m. on December 31, for the “Swingin’ the New Year” big band event from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. The Enoch Davis Center will be open January 1 for the Imani (Faith) Kwanzaa event, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium.
