TRADER JOE'S OPENING PROMPTS PLAN TO EASE TRAFFIC CONGESTION

ST. PETERSBURG, FL (February 11, 2015) – City officials are taking precautions to ensure traffic flows as smoothly as possible when Trader Joe’s, 2742 Fourth Street North, opens for business in St. Petersburg on Friday, February 13. Grand opening festivities begin at 8 a.m.

Due to the popularity of the specialty retailer and anticipated large number of shoppers, city officials have implemented traffic controls during the weekends of February 13-15 and February 20-22 to keep traffic issues at a minimum. From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. both weekends, the retailer’s Fourth Street North entrance will be closed. Shoppers will enter the store’s parking lot from Fourth Street via a one-way entrance on 28th Avenue North and return to Fourth Street via a one-way exit on 27th Avenue North. Once inside the lot, shoppers will be directed to available parking by Trader Joe’s employees.  Police will be on hand to monitor traffic at both intersections, including a pedestrian crossing at 27th Street. Officials will determine if additional traffic calming measures are necessary after February 22.

The first Trader Joe’s to open in St. Petersburg, the 9 thousand square foot store is one of three opening in Florida this year. Store hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
