Puppets, Magic, Comedy, Circus, Balloons and More – Summer Fun at Your Library July 19-26
St. Petersburg, Fla. (July 15, 2016) – Enjoy music and puppetry, magic, comedy, a drum circle, juggling, unicycle antics, and even an audience participation show with a live parrot and more during these Summer fun activities at St. Petersburg libraries starting July 19. Each is free and open to the public:
“KidFit” by DoDad’s Lab:
Tuesday, July 19, 2:30 p.m. at Johnson Community Library, 1059 18th Ave. S.
Thursday, July 21, 2:30 p.m. at South Community Library, 2300 Roy Hanna Drive S.
Join Professor DoDad as he brings original music, puppetry, and laughter to the Johnson and South Community Libraries. Professor DoDad shares the science of health and fitness using original songs, science experiments, colorful props, and even a visit from his new pal "Citrus" the Orange. Kids leave with a better understanding on how to take care of themselves using fitness and health. Let's Shake, Jump, and Turn our lives around using KidFit!
Drumming Circle by Giving Tree Music:
Wednesday, July 20, 10:30 a.m. at St. Petersburg Main Library, 3745 Ninth Ave N.
Feel the rhythm of the beat. Steve Turner of Giving Tree Music parks his trailer full of hand-made West African goblet drums, called djembes, at St. Petersburg Main Library. The building will vibrate with excitement when everyone drums (or dances!) in this exciting interactive program with drums and more rhythm instruments.
"Go for The Gold!" by Evans Entertainment: Wednesday, July 20, 2:30 p.m. at West Community Library at St. Petersburg College/Gibbs Campus, 6700 Eighth Ave. N.
Join your hosts, Joey, Alexandra, and of course, Sydney, the live Eclectus Parrot as their journey starts on Mt. Olympus and takes the audience on an action-packed thrill ride filled with award-winning magic, music, comedy, and hilarious audience participation at St. Petersburg West Community Library. The show takes a look at everything from playground games to organized sports in a show all themed around fitness, health, and sports.
“Fitness Fun” by Ronald McDonald: Friday, July 22, 10 a.m.
Childs Park Community Library at the Y Achievers Facility, 691 43rd St. S.
Ronald McDonald is taking a field trip to Childs Park Community Library! The clown with the big smile will use magic, comedy, juggling, puppetry and more to demonstrate to children of all ages that fitness CAN be FUN – while also tying in the importance of reading. It’s a high-octane, highly-interactive show that you don’t want to miss!
Tony the Balloon Guy: Friday, July 22, 2:30 p.m.
at Mirror Lake Community Library, 280 Fifth St. N.
Consider the magic of a balloon creature - stretch a balloon, fill it up with air and deftly twist it into a shape. Tony the Balloon Guy demonstrates his mastery of balloon construction at the Mirror Lake Community Library. Watch as he intertwines brightly colored balloons to build fantastic creations – right before your very eyes.
