Midtown Walmart Neighborhood Market BLACK HISTORY FESTIVAL Saturday, February 21
St. Petersburg, Fla. (February 18, 2015) – St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman and members of City Council will gather to celebrate the Midtown Walmart Neighborhood Market Black History Festival with Assistant Manager, Gerald Bryant and staff. The Black History Festival is a community outreach by Walmart for Black History Month and will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 21. The Walmart Neighborhood Market is located at 1794 22nd Street South. Activities for the day will include:
- Food & Beverage Vendors;
- Home Owner Assistance Information;
- Great Giveaways;
- Free Health Screenings;
- Children Activities;
- African American Art ;
- Community non-profits; and
- Live Entertainment: Arts Conservatory for Teen Performers, John Robinson Production Performers, K-9 demonstration, Puppet show, and more.
The 40,000 sq. ft. Walmart Neighborhood Market is a full-service grocery store and pharmacy that has served the Midtown community since its grand opening in January 2014. Approximately 85 full- and part-time staff are currently employed, most of whom live in the Midtown community
Mayor Kriseman stated, “The Midtown Walmart Neighborhood Market is a part of our growing city of opportunity. This store is a valued community resource, providing goods, services and employment to the citizens of the Sunshine City for years to come. I thank Gerald Bryant and the staff of Walmart for celebrating Black History Month.”
This is another event and business assisted by the city of St. Petersburg Community Services Department in collaboration with The Greenhouse, Police, Sanitation, Parks and Recreation, and the Marketing Departments.
