Minor Sludge Spill at Northwest Reclamation Plant 

ST. PETERSBURG, FL (March 8, 2017) – During the routine replacement of a pump at the Northwest Water Reclamation Plant, 7500 26th Ave. N., approximately 50 gallons of sludge spilled onto the ground adjacent to a clarifier between 7:30 and 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 7. The clarifier is used to settle out additional solids from the wastewater. The spill was contained to the immediate work site and did not affect any surface waters.  The Florida Department of Environmental Protection was notified at 7:15 p.m.
