Water Quality Improves at St. Petersburg Beaches

St. Petersburg, Fla. (July 6, 2017) -- After seeing increased enterococci levels at near-coastal waterways in the city of St. Petersburg earlier this week, subsequent tests have shown improvement.

Listed below are the results and Water Quality Category according to the Healthy Beaches Program for Spa Beach and Lassing Park from the July 6th sampling event.
  • Lassing Park        20           Good
  • Spa Beach           80           Poor (just beyond “moderate” range)

 As a reminder, Florida Healthy Beaches Program Categories are:

  • Good = 0-35 Enterococci per 100 milliliters of marine water
  • Moderate = 36-70 Enterococci per 100 milliliters of marine water
  • Poor = 71 or greater Enterococci per 100 milliliters of marine water

Appropriate notification has been made along the coastal waterways with advisory signage.
