Precautionary Boil Water Notice for 4th St corridor

St. Petersburg, Fla. (August 2, 2017) --Following repairs – and flushing --  of a water main under 4th Street N. at SE Jefferson Circle, the City of St. Petersburg is issuing a Precautionary Boil Water Notice for a handful of customers (no more than five) in the immediate area.  We are hand-delivering the notices residences and businesses near the line break.

The line break occurred after lightning struck a light pole and that pole collapsed into the underground main.  Crews have been working hard through the evening to make necessary repairs and ensure the integrity of the 12” water main.

Even though we have no reason to believe at this time that contaminants have entered the system, we are issuing this Precautionary Boil Water Notice for customers.

When we are able to confirm through biological testing that no contaminants are present, we will notify those customers that this Boil Water Notice is no longer in effect.  Customers will be advised if any additional action is necessary in response to the test results.
