Voluntary Boil Water Notice for two properties along 22nd Avenue S

St. Petersburg, Fla.  (August 15, 2017) -- Water Resources crews responded to a water main break along 22nd Avenue South Monday August 14.  It’s not clear what caused the rupture in the 8” water main under the north side of the street in the 2300 block of 22nd, but crews did manage to repair the line in short order.

As a result of the outage, a Precautionary Boil Water Notice has been issued for two properties on the north side of 22nd Avenue South:  A home at 2425 and the James B. Sanderlin Neighborhood family Center.

Nearby schools – on the south side of 22nd Avenue South were not affected by the water main break.

While there is no reason to believe that any contaminants were introduced into the line at this location, the boil water notice is being issued purely as a precaution until thorough biological testing can be completed by the city of St. Petersburg.  Residents and directors of the Family Center will be notified when the water samples taken tonight and tomorrow have been thoroughly tested and the Precautionary notice can be lifted.
