40th Avenue Bridge traffic resumes two-way pattern

St. Petersburg, Fla.  (August 23, 2017) – After days of utility re-location and rerouting of traffic lanes, the 40th Avenue NE Bridge is NOW OPEN for two-way traffic.

One lane of east bound and one lane of west bound traffic will be shifted to the outer edges of the bridge, so that engineers can more closely inspect the interior and center pieces of the span.

Motorists are advised to proceed with caution and adhere to the reduced speed limit of 15 mph.  Unfortunately, due to the design of the modification of traffic, pedestrians cannot be accommodated at this time and they are advised to utilize alternate routes.

Trucks using the bridge are required to strictly adhere to the posted weight limits (17 tons for double-axle, 23 tons for triple-axle and 26 tons for truck and trailer) and reduced speeds.
