Reclaimed water line leak stopped

St. Petersburg, Fla. (October 26, 2017) – Approximately 900 gallons of Reclaimed Water leaked into a storm drain at the northeast corner of 22nd Avenue South and 51st Street South (in the city of Gulfport) on Wednesday, October 25, 2017.

The leak was apparently caused by a private contractor performing work on a Pinellas County Storm drain system.  During the mid-afternoon construction process, a 30” Reclaimed Water main was nicked and water from a “pinhole leak” flowed into the storm drain for approximately 45 minutes before it was discovered and stopped.

St. Petersburg Water Resources crews are on site today to complete restoration of the line, including installation of a 30” repair clamp.  The work should be completed by noon today.
