Northshore Beach Advisory and Additional Water Testing Results

St. Petersburg, Fla.  (January 25, 2018) – The weekly Recreational Water sampling and testing has been completed by the Environmental Compliance Division of St. Petersburg Water Resources Department on the near-shore waters along Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico.

The bacteriological result for the sample collected yesterday (1/24) at Northshore Beach exceeded the acceptable criteria for Enterococci as established by the Healthy Beaches Categories.  Notification has been made and advisory signs have been posted at the beach.

Waters along Northshore Beach will be re-sampled again today. Results will be posted tomorrow at http://www.stpete.org/water/waterquality.php on the “Recreational Beaches” layer of the interactive map.

Additionally, sampling of waters in Smacks Bayou has been initiated – in response to public interest and citizen requests. Those results are also included on the interactive map in the “Background Data” layer.

All of these samples are taken and testing is being done in accordance with the water testing protocols outlined in the City’s Water Quality Report Card.
