Downtown Water Main Replacement plans to be presented
St. Petersburg, Fla. (February 16, 2018) – A major replacement and rehabilitation project for drinking water lines through the downtown area is set to begin.
Construction bids are being presented for the work to construct 2,500 linear feet of new 8” and 12” lines in the area along Central Avenue from Third Street North to Beach Drive, along First Avenue North from Third Street North to First Street North and First Street North, from Central Avenue to First Avenue North.
Work is expected to begin in the Spring and should be completed within seven months. The City of St. Petersburg has made efforts to minimize the potential for traffic interruptions and inconveniences during the construction of the lines and restoration of roadways. However, due to the location of new and existing underground utilities, it will be necessary to close lanes and detour traffic for limited periods of time.
The proposed plans for this project will be available for review during an informational open house on February 23 and March 2, 2018 at the Sunshine Center Auditorium, 330 Fifth Street North, from 6-7 pm. Residents and business owners are encouraged to stop by any time between to discuss any questions or concerns with City staff.
For additional information, interested citizens may contact the Project Manager via e-mail at David.Abbaspour@StPete.org.
The staff and crews of the St. Petersburg Public Works Department Engineering and Capital Improvements appreciate everyone's patience during this time.
