Sewer bypass leak stopped

St. Petersburg, Fla.  (February 19, 2018) – A leak of approximately 300 gallons of sewage was stopped and contained to a construction berm near a bypass project at 42nd Street and Fairfield Avenue South.

Contractors working on a pipe project through that area received word that a valve in the bypass pump was leaking about midnight.  The leak was repaired by 2:30 am.  The estimated discharge of 300 gallons was contained within the construction berm.  The area was cleaned and disinfected. 

The leak did not convey to any storm or surface waters.
