Raised Intersection replacement coming to Childs Park

St. Petersburg, Fla.  (June 27, 2018) – City paving crews will be re-constructing the raised intersection at 40th Street South and Fairfield Avenue South on Saturday, June 30, 2018.  The work on this roadway was delayed one week from the earlier commencement of June 23 mentioned in earlier news releases.

During underground pipe repairs made by Water Resources crews earlier this spring in the area, the traffic-calming raised pavement had to be removed.  The intersection has reopened, but the raised intersection was not initially rebuilt.

Replacing the elevated surface – which had been in place to reduce traffic speed in the area – will require the closing of the intersection once again from 7 am – 5 pm on June 30.  This is being done to avoid the peak traffic on weekdays, and offer a quicker completion to the project.  Local detours will be in effect, and drivers are asked to exercise extra caution during this time.
