Stormwater Crews clear drainage lines to mitigate potential flooding

St. Petersburg, Fla.  (June 12, 2018) -- Following reports of flooding earlier this week along 34th St., Saint Petersburg stormwater crews got to work to discover the cause.

Popping a manhole at 3rd Ave., North workers used a Vactor truck to both flush and vacuum the line as they looked for any blockages.

They found a lid to a storage bin -- or maybe trashcan -- that had acted as a gate across one of the main drainage lines.

This is the sort of work that crews are doing every day all across St. Petersburg to help support the Sunshine City...even when it’s raining.
