Drainage repairs continue along 38th Avenue N                  Detours will continue through July 20

St. Petersburg, Fla. (July 9, 2018) – Drainage improvements begun in June along 38th Avenue North in St. Petersburg have taken longer than anticipated to fully fix.  And so, those repairs – right at the CSX Railroad underpass and just east of 34th Street North (US 19) -- will cause road closures and detours for about another two weeks.

The repair project is being coordinated by Pinellas County, since the 38th Avenue North corridor is a county-maintained roadway.  Modifications to facilitate trench drain removal and associated roadway and sidewalk construction have already begun -- and were anticipated to be concluded by July 2 -- but workers need more time to complete their tasks.

The work will require that a FULL road closure continue along 38th Avenue from 31st through 34th Streets North through July 20, 2018 at 5 pm.

22nd Avenue North (to the south) and 54th Avenue North (to the north) will continue to be used to work around the affected area, with north/south access to those roads from marked detours on 34th Street North and 4th Street North.

Local roads will also continue to be clearly marked and signed with detour information.
