Reclaimed Water main leak stopped

St. Petersburg, Fla. (July 16, 2018) – About 49,2800 gallons of fully-treated Reclaimed Water leaked from a reclaimed waterline near the intersection of 34th Street North and 11th Avenue North Sunday afternoon (7/15/2018).

It appears that a galvanized steel fitting ruptured at this site, leading to the unauthorized discharge – which was reported at 12:07 pm.  Crews responded by 3:16 pm and the discharge ceased by 5:15 pm.

Reclaimed Water ran to the catch basin at the northeast corner of 34th Street and 11th Avenue North.  It is not likely that the reclaimed water conveyed to any body of water due to the design of the storm drain system.
