Underground utility work to cause detours through Causeway Isles

St. Petersburg, Fla.  (September 20, 2018)   Underground investigation of pipes from September 26-28, 2018 and eventual replacement of valves along 79th Street between Central Avenue and Causeway Boulevard will require drivers to detour around 79th Street in the Causeway Isles neighborhood.

Beginning Wednesday, September 28 at 8 am, contractors will begin a dig to investigate conditions underground in a utility pipe (owned and operated by the City of St. Pete Beach).  The initial dig and inspection will continue through 5 pm Friday, September 28. At that point, the roadway surface is scheduled to be restored while engineers work to identify needed parts and schedule a permanent valve repair at a later date.

Drivers will detour around the closed portion of 79th Street by using Causeway Boulevard through the duration of the project.

While detours and modification of traffic patterns will be fully signed, the City of St. Petersburg recommends that drivers find an alternative route during the construction times.
