Booker Creek Improvements through Roser Park
St. Petersburg, Fla. (September 26, 2018) There’s help on the way for the City’s first designated Historic Neighborhood. The city of St. Petersburg has recently authorized a contractor to proceed with the following improvements along Roser Park Drive:
- Remove and replace the existing cast-in-place creek walls lining the north and south sides of Booker Creek between the 6th Street South and 10th Avenue South bridges.
- Remove and replace the existing timber pedestrian bridge crossing Booker Creek approximately mid-way between the 6th Street South and 10th Avenue bridges.
- Complete the landscaping and hardscaping improvements along the north and south sides of Booker Creek between the 6th Street South and 10th Avenue South bridges.
The purpose of this project is to replace the existing destabilized creek retaining walls which have exceeded their useful service life. The construction cost is $2,943,150, and is scheduled to begin in November 2018 and continue through June 2019.
The contractor is required to notify any property owners/residents seven to ten days in advance of commencement of work in the immediate area. Every effort will be made to minimize any inconvenience experienced throughout the construction phase.
While detours and modification of traffic patterns will be fully signed, the City of St. Petersburg recommends that drivers find an alternative route during the construction times.
