Roadway repairs cause lane closures on Fourth Street South

St. Petersburg, Fla.  (September 26, 2018)   Emergency road repairs and underground utility work will cause some delays and intermittent lane closures along Fourth Street South from 25th Avenue South to Pinellas Avenue in the Harbordale neighborhood over the next several weeks.

Crews have been digging into what caused a roadway cave-in late last week.  They discovered a sanitary sewer line that had broken – and was in immediate need of lining.  In preparation for that work, workers have had to close the inside lanes of Fourth Street from 25th Avenue South to the intersection of Pinellas Avenue.

While the inside lanes will be closed tor excavation and pipe-lining over the next three weeks, there will be one lane open northbound and one open southbound for the duration of the repair project.  Once the pipe-lining is completed, crews will restore and repair the roadway.

Detours and modification of traffic patterns will be fully signed; however the City of St. Petersburg recommends that drivers find an alternative route during the construction times.
