Manhole work begins this weekend at MLK and 22nd Avenue North

St. Petersburg, Fla.  (October 25, 2018) –  Heads-up for drivers along southbound 9th Street (MLK Street) North and those travelling eastbound on 22nd Avenue North.  Repair work on a sanitary Sewer manhole at that intersection will require some intermittent closures and lane shifts.

The work – which will begin at 8 am Sunday, October 28 – will close the southbound lane on MLK and shift the southbound traffic into a northbound turn lane.  Additionally, the eastbound turn lane and middle lane will be closed along 22nd Avenue.  The curb lane will remain open to traffic.

While the work will require this modification of traffic for most of the day on Sunday, it is hoped that the roadway will be open for normal traffic by 9 am Monday morning, October 29.

The detours and modification of traffic patterns will be fully signed; however, the City of St. Petersburg recommends that drivers find an alternative route during the construction times.
