Mayor Rick Kriseman to Announce 2018 Veteran Awards November 11
ST. PETERSBURG, FL (October 26, 2018) – For the fifth year in a row, Mayor Rick Kriseman will celebrate Veterans Day by presenting awards to distinguished local veterans. The City of St. Petersburg Veterans Day celebration will be held on Sunday, November 11 beginning at 8 a.m. at Williams Park at 330 2nd Ave. N.
This year’s Honored Veteran Award will be presented to Maxine Cardinal Wehry, who was among the first women to join the United States Marines Corps during WWII. She is the author of “A Kindred Spirit”, a book that recounts her time in the Marines. Wehry is a lifetime member of the Women Marines Association and has served as a volunteer at Bay Pines VA Hospital for many years.
The Original NFL Veterans Honoring U.S. Military Veterans Award will be presented to Terence Jackson. Jackson served as a medic in the United States Army for more than 20 years.
Students from the Gibbs High School Pinellas County Center for the Arts will perform the National Anthem and the event will be followed by a complimentary breakfast.
