Letter from the City Auditor
Welcome to the City of St. Petersburg Audit Services Department website. This site reflects my continuous effort to communicate useful and timely information to City officials and the general public regarding our office and the work that we do. I am proud to lead a highly professional team that provides audit services to promote accountability to the public and to improve the economy, efficiency, and effectiveness of our City government. Our goal is to conduct independent and objective analyses, and make the most appropriate recommendations to help achieve these objectives. We follow Government Auditing Standards and are independent of the areas that we review.
My staff and I strive to add value to the City in many ways. Our efforts are focused in several important areas: Operational Audits, Performance Audits, Revenue Audits, Compliance Audits, Fraud Investigations, Information Systems Audits, and Special Reviews. We encourage City Management to consult us on issues related to internal control, efficiency and effectiveness. We appreciate the opportunity to assist management to set up cost-effective and reliable internal controls that ensure our City government is among the best-run organizations in the country.
We demonstrate commitment to the community through active involvement in professional and civic organizations, including the Institute of Internal Auditors, the Association of Local Government Auditors, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association. Our commitment to excellence is further demonstrated by the many professional licenses and certifications we have earned and actively maintain. All of us are also volunteering as Mentors as part of the Mayor's Mentors and More program.
