Assistant Chief Cedric Frank Gordon joined the St. Petersburg Police Department in August 1980 as a police cadet and as a patrol officer in 1981. After serving in several different capacities throughout the Police Department, including as a detective, sergeant, lieutenant and major. In 2005, he was promoted to the rank of assistant chief of the Administrative Services Bureau, one of the Department’s three bureaus, where he serves as the bureau commander.

Assistant Chief Gordon has a bachelor's degree in criminology from St. Leo University. He is also a graduate of the Senior Management Institute for Police in Boston, Massachusetts.

Assistant Chief Gordon is actively involved in many community organizations. He is a member of the Pinellas County Urban League Board of Directors, a graduate of the Leadership St. Pete Class of 2005, and a mentor in the 500 Role Models of Excellence Program, which are only a few of the ways in which he serves his community. He is also often called upon to be a guest speaker for various events. He continuously participates in community activities and has received community-wide recognition and numerous awards, including the Sons of Allen 2002 Hero of the People Award, the 2003 Ebony Scholars Leadership Award for Outstanding Community Service, and the 2004 NAACP Law Enforcement Community Service Award, to name a few. In addition, Assistant Chief Gordon is the weekly host of Police and Community Perspective, a live call-in radio show, which airs on AM 1590 WRXB every Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.
