A city employee since 1985, Jeff Hollis oversees three award-winning, city-owned golf courses - Mangrove Bay, Cypress Links and Twin Brooks. This includes the driving ranges and golf pro shop operations, PGA instruction programs including junior golf, and golf course maintenance. The department operates as an enterprise fund and receives no tax dollar support and covers all operational and capital expenditures with user fees.
He has an associate's degree from St. Petersburg College. He is a Class A member of PGA of America; is a PGA-certified General Manager; and is a graduate of the National Institute of Golf Management. The North Florida Section of the PGA has awarded Jeff with the Horton Smith Education Award, the Merchandiser of the Year Award, and the Golf Professional of the Year Award.
Jeff is a committee chair and volunteer for the PGA Tour Chrysler Championship; a trustee board member and instructor for the National Institute of Golf Management; an executive board member of the PGA's West Central Chapter; and a board member of the St. Petersburg College Athletic Boosters Association. Mangrove Bay Golf Course has been listed in Golf Digest's Top 50 Public Golf Courses and Golf for Women magazine's Top 100 Women Friendly Golf Courses. The facility was also awarded the Public Golf Achievement Award by the National Golf Foundation.
