Lori Matway joined the city in 2007. She oversees the Mayor Rick Baker's schools initiatives and the Mayor's Mentors & More program, which includes recruiting mentors for the city's 47 public schools, securing private funding for Doorways Scholarships, pairing public schools with corporate partners, funding incentive programs for principals of top-performing schools and coordinating other efforts to help support the city's schools.
She holds a bachelor's degree in secondary social studies and a master's degree from the University of South Florida in education leadership, and is pursuing a doctorate degree in education leadership.
She was previously a teacher, assistant principal and principal with Pinellas County Schools, where she served as president and treasurer of the Secondary Assistant Principal's Association and was a finalist for the Nancy Givens Administrator of the Year Award.
